Thank you for visiting my website. I am a UK based Certified Sherry Educator, based in the East Midlands. It will come as no surprise, that I have an interest and passion for Sherry Wines. I ‘discovered’ Sherry while studying for the WSET Higher Certificate.
My affection for this highly under rated wine was transformed when I won a wine tasting competition while I was working at Wine Rack (remember them?). The prize was a trip to Jerez. I just fell in love with the region, the people and the wines, oh the wines! What a discovery; my fate was sealed. I fell in love with Sherry. The most memorable part of that trip was a tasting at Gonzalez Byass. Here I discovered the range of different styles and flavours. I remember, their Olorosos, Palo Cortado and PX (Noe); all made an everlasting and considerable impression.
I have sixteen years’ experience (1995-2011) of customer service, sales, buying, administration, marketing and teaching within the wine industry. I have worked in specialist multiple retailers, independent specialist wine merchants, in the multiple grocer sector and even was involved with my own wine venture, which was of course, a sherry specialist. I have an in-depth knowledge and passion for Sherry having passed the WSET Diploma in 2002 and studied at Plumpton College where I obtain an HND in Wine Studies in 2004. I was one of the first Certified Sherry Educators having passed the course in Jerez in October 2005.
During this time, I had a very successful and informative website called MadAboutSherry. Unlike my previous website, I have not provided any information about Sherry; the history, vineyards, soil, grapes, production, solera system etc etc (been there, done that, got the t-shirt). There are now other sites that do this job very well and I would recommend you visit them, if not already done so (see my recommendations).
So, what is the purpose of this website, I hear you say. I offer a specialist, informative teaching opportunity and structured tutored tastings, for individuals or for groups. If you would like further information, please do contact me.
